The Spontaneous Present

The world we think we see is a memory of the world we made to hide from our Creator. That world, as we said before, was over in the same instant it seemed to appear. We made the world. All that we think happened, never happened, except the love. A Course In Miracles teaches that loving thoughts are all that is real here. (There is no "here" here.)

I am having a memory of writing these words; I think I am writing them "now", but I am writing them in what we think of as "The Past". What we call memory is only our insistence on holding events/ images in our mind, rather than allowing them to disappear. As you sit there reading these words, slowly turn your head. As you do, the original position your head was in is now gone, but you keep recalling it. That position is gone. This is our idea of "Past". It is all over. It is not the truth of us; it is not our home. We never left home, nor could we.

"What about spontaneity?" What we think of as spontaneity is just part of the awesome power of mind. Our mind. All time is at once, we just experience it in slow-motion. The first day of this world, this earth, and the last day, are in the same moment. When we watch a movie, we know that it is already over, because its beginning, middle and end are contained within the disk. The first scene of the movie, and the last, are at the same moment. We just experience it in slow-motion.

As long as we insist on remembering what never took place, we will not know the Present. Everything we do and think and say, is in the past. But there is no past...the past is only our holding onto events that we imagined. A Course In Miracles says, "I see nothing as it is now." I am recalling this keyboard, I am remembering the taste of my coffee as I sip. But it is over. None of this happened because God did not create it. God created us by extending perfect Love to us, through us, as us. We are not weak, or sick. We do not die. We are God's Son.

Remember the Present. Therein thrives peace...the peace from which we have come, are created, have our whole being. Demonstrate to yourself that it is so. Herein lies our release from dreams of separation.

God is alive, not alive and then dead! There is no death, and the beauty is that we all know this is true. Every living thing knows we are whole, eternal, in this holy Present. This is why the following is true:

Change the way you see the world, and the world you see will change.
